ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 28, 2021

HEY SENIORS!  Do you want something fun to do?  How about a whole week of activities?  The Mountain Echo and Horseshoe Yearbook are sponsoring the first ever Senior Week.  Tickets will be sold for $5 on the bridge during 1st and 2nd periods on May 6 and 7.  Don’t miss out!

ATTENTION STUDENT COUNCIL MEMBERS:  Please check the google classroom for upcoming activities, meeting and plans for next year.  Your leadership is needed to get us to the end of the year, so check in and volunteer by emailing Mrs. Shope, Mrs. Hogan or Mrs. McAleer!  Can’t wait to hear from our Student Council Leaders!

ATTENTION SENIORS:  If you are planning on going to the Senior Celebration and would like to take a guest who does not attend AAHS, please remember that you must fill out a guest approval form.  These forms are in your assistant principals’ offices.  They are due by Friday, May 7, so please don’t wait.  Tickets go on sale next week.  More information about ticket sales will be sent out later this week, so please check your email often.

Today is the last day for the Student Council Humane Society Fundraiser.  Donate $1 and have a photograph or print-out of your pet hung in the school halls.  Or you can simply give a donation without a photo.  Money and pictures can be turned in to Mrs. McAleer in A309, Mrs. Hogan in B318, or the school store.

ATTENTION STUDENTS:  Rachel’s Closet is now open daily during periods 6, 7 and 8.  We will also be open after school on Tuesdays until 3:30.  We have many new and gently used clothes and shoes.  Please stop in and check us out in Room B304.  And remember, “Good things come to those who thrift!”

Attention Students in Grades 9-11:  Your scheduling requests for next year can be found in your Skyward account under Schedule.  Click on “View Available Courses for 2021-2022 in Altoona Area High School” and look at the selected courses in the right box.  Please check your selections and let your school counselor know if you have any questions or need to make any changes.  The last day to look is Friday, April 30th.

Students who completed ANY community service within the past year should apply for the Challenge Award Community Service Award.  You could get a $200 check.  We have very few applications at this point.  The application is available outside the Counseling Office.  Deadline to submit your form is this Thursday, April 29.  See Ms. Fox in the Counseling Office with any questions.

Attention 9th, 10th and 11th grade students:  The AAHS Lioneer Dance Team is announcing that we will be using an in person tryout format for Lioneer tryouts this year.

All students entering grades 9-12 for the 2021-2022 are eligible to try out.

Please email Mrs. Schmoke at [email protected] if you are interested in trying out.  Provide your name, grade and school email address.  There will be a mandatory meeting and practice on May 11th beginning at 2:45pm and will end at 4:00pm.
