ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2021

Attention students:  Our second Astronomy Club meeting will be held in the back of the AAHS Auditorium on Tuesday, after school from 2:50-3:30PM.  We will accept nominations for club officers, and talk about upcoming events, including “Haunted Fort Roberdeau” in October.  Permission slips will be available for our first after-school pizza party.  Hope to see you there!

 

Attention students:  The Homecoming Dance will be held on Wednesday, September 29th from 7-9:30 PM in the High School Fieldhouse.  Tickets are $5 each for any AAHS student.  Tickets will be sold in the fieldhouse and auditorium from 7:15-7:40 AM on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of Homecoming week.  Tickets can also be purchased at the door.  You need a school ID or hall pass to purchase a ticket AND enter the dance.

 

Attention all students:  If you would like to practice mindfulness before school, please see Mrs. Lucas in the library for a pass.

 

Attention Juniors and Seniors:  It’s time for the junior and senior class fundraiser.  This year, we will be selling Claysburg Pizza products to raise money for the junior and senior prom.  You will be receiving information in reporting room in the next few days.  If you don’t receive an order form and would like one, please stop by Mrs. Harris’s room, A-305, to pick up one.  You can earn free prom tickets by selling.  The more money we raise, the less your prom tickets will cost, so please try to participate.

 

Attention Juniors:  The deadline for junior class officer applications has been extended to Thursday, September 23.  If you are interested in running for junior class president, vice president, secretary, or treasurer, please pick up an application from Mrs. Harris is A-305.

 

Attention all AAHS students:  The AAHS Mock Trial team will be having their first organizational meeting on Wednesday, September 22nd, at the AAJHS library from 6-7 PM.  All students are welcome to attend!  If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Negri at [email protected].

 

Attention students:  Would you like to be a possible candidate to become a Big Brother / Big Sister to a 3rd – 5th grade Penn Lincoln student?  Please come to an informational meeting on Wednesday, September 22 in the Counseling Office at the start of 4th period.  We will go to Penn Lincoln on Thursdays after school until 4:45 starting in mid-October.  This is a serious commitment and can be very rewarding.  It would be considered community service.  Please see Mrs. Starr or Ms. Fox in the Guidance Office if you have questions.  We will have packets of information for you on Monday.

 

AAHS Juniors & Seniors taking the S.A.T. this Fall:  It is Week #4 on Mr. Spayd’s S.A.T. Math Google Classroom Site.  The Math Practice Quiz and Answer Key are downloaded and waiting to be completed.  Each week other important information about the S.A.T. and the College Board will be available.  Juniors thinking about taking the PSAT, there is special information on the Google Classroom site for you.  Anyone interested in improving their SAT score is encouraged to join.  Presently there are over 70 AAHS students signed-up & working, so please join them using the following access code:

Attention Seniors:  The Elks National Foundation is offering scholarships to seniors.  For more information visit the website at enf.elks.org/MVS for complete details.  Deadline is 

November 15.

Attention students age 16 or older:  The ASVAB is coming.  If you are 16 years of age or older and would like to take the ASVAB, please sign up in the Counseling Office.  Deadline to sign up is Wednesday, September 29th.  The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) can help you take steps toward finding a career that is right for you.  You can benefit from taking the exam whether you plan to pursue further education after high school, join the military or join the work force.  The exam will be given on Tuesday, October 5thSign up in the counseling office and make sure to take an ASVAB overview booklet with you once you sign up!
