ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2021

Attention 9th grade boys interested in trying out for basketball:  There will be an open gym on Thursday, October 21st, from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the Junior High School.

 

Attention 9th grade teachers and students:  a reminder that on Monday and Tuesday of next week during 4th period, teachers who have a class of all 9th grade students will escort students to the auditorium.  Teachers who teach mixed grade levels will send 9th grade students to the auditorium.  The assemblies will last all of 4th period, and students should bring their belongings with them.  Chromebooks will be used during the assembly.

On Monday, October 25, 9th graders whose 4th period class is in the A building will have their assembly.  On Tuesday, October 26, 9th graders whose 4th period class is in the B building will have their assembly.

**During the assembly, permission slips for November GACTC tours during the school day will be given out.  Be sure to get one so that you can see what GACTC has to offer!**

 

Hey all AAHS students!  Don’t let BG’s “Dawg Pound” claim their territory when OUR Altoona girls’ volleyball team takes them on at the Field House on Monday, October 25th.  Let’s show them what coming into the Lion’s Den is all about!  The theme is Favorite JERSEY.  

P.S. – we heard Mr. Saboe is also offering extra credit if you go and get loud!

 

Attention All:  AAHS Student Council is supporting the Foundation for Life at UPMC Altoona Hospital by selling Breast Cancer Awareness pins for the last 2 weeks in October.  Please see a student council member or the student store or Mrs. McAleer in A312 or Mrs. Hogan in B318 to purchase a $1 pin to benefit the Foundation for Life.

 

Attention Students:  Red Ribbon Week is taking place from October 25th to October 28th.  If you would like to support being drug free, participate in our theme week!  Monday wear your class assigned color; Tuesday wear your favorite sports team apparel to team up against drugs; Wednesday is a red out; and on Thursday wear camo because drugs can’t find us😉.  You can also stop by the bridge during your lunch to sign the Drug Free pledge.  Teachers and faculty are welcome to participate!

 

Attention Students:  A Navy representative will be on the bridge today at lunch.  Be sure to stop by the table between the two cafeterias for more information.

 

Attention Students: “Do you want to learn a new game, roll some dice, play a trading card game, or meet new friends?  The first meeting of Computer Club and Games Club will be on Friday, October 22nd.  We will begin after school and end at 4:30 p.m. in room B109.  You may bring your own game along or play one that we have in the room.  If you have any questions please contact Mr. Frailey or Mr. Harber.  We hope to see you for a great time!”

 

Attention Seniors:  The Elks National Foundation is offering scholarships to seniors.  For more information visit the website at enf.elks.org/MVS for complete details.  Deadline is November 15.

 

Anyone interested in joining the National Art Honor Society should see one of the Art teachers for an application.  Applicants must have earned an A in all Art classes taken at the High School and an overall GPA of an 86%.  Applications are due Friday, October 22nd.

 

Attention Students:  A representative from Alleghany College will be set up during lunches tomorrow, October 22nd.  Please feel free to stop at their table to get more information on what they have to offer after graduation.
