Doran continues into beauty pageant world

In 2018, junior Mykenzi Doran decided to join beauty pageants. Sometimes her pageants take her to places like New Jersey. She’s been doing it for a couple of years now because she was inspired to do it.

Beauty pageants take place around the world, consisting of  girls competing and trying to win the titles and prizes.

“My first year competing, we went to Harrisburg, and I didn’t place anything or do anything that year. Or the year after that either. Then we went to New Jersey and again I didn’t place anything or do anything,” Doran said.

Nationals this year will take place in Orlando, Fl. over Thanksgiving weekend.

“This year I went back and I competed; I placed top 10. I won an award that basically gave me an invite to Nationals. I’m still trying to organize things and arrange it, so that I can go to Nationals and compete,” Doran said.

Finding the inspiration to start doing a new thing may come at a young age.

“When I was young, my grandmother sat me down and I watched this movie with her called ‘Miss Congeniality,” Doran said. “Seeing that sort of environment really just got me into interacting with people like that and getting into that sort of organization.”

The right people can play a big role in your life.

“The person who inspired me would be Sandra Bullock,” Doran said.

Through Doran’s whole beauty pageant experience she learned to like competing.

Doran wants to continue her passion for beauty pageants. Doran hopes to win more pageants in the future and get more titles.
