Clapper discusses dance career

Junior Claudia Clapper has been in dance since she was three. She has done many genres including hip hop, Ballet, Tap, Lyrical and Acro.

“The genre I currently partake in is Hip hop; I take about two hip hop classes. I taught a class before,” Clapper said.

Clapper with her many years of dance has got to try a little of every genre.

“My favorite genre of dance would have to be hip hop. When I was little, I would look up to older girls who did competitions and how happy it made them,”  Clapper said.

Dance has been a big part of Clapper’s life and has affected her in many ways .

“The positive effects of dance have been that dance will always be my escape from everything. It helps me express my emotions instead of bursting out crying. The only negative effect of dancing had been body image issues and self esteem,” Clapper said.

Clapper’s journey hasn’t necessarily been perfect; it came with some regrets.

“My biggest regret about dance was dropping out when I was 5 to 8 years old. I also didn’t apply myself for the competition ream when my studio first asked me to, and I might have to wait until my senior year to join,” Clapper said

Clapper doesn’t see herself continuing to dance after high school.

“I think after high school I might stop, or I might attend a class every once and a while or help out, but I don’t think it will be my passion,” Clapper said.

Clapper has experienced many things while attending dance. It has affected her life in so many ways and will probably continue for years to come.
