Headlines don’t sell papers. Newsies sell papers.

The drama club is hosting acrobatic dance workshops to prepare actors for the spring play Newsies. They begin Dec. 5 and will introduce different acrobatic skills the actors will then perform on stage. The four workshops will alternate between mornings and evenings until auditions Monday Dec. 10.

“I think that the dance workshops will be able to prepare us because Newsies is a very dance heavy show. It’s great for people who already have acro skills and want to be stage ready,” Emily Berkheimer said.

The play Newsies has been critically-acclaimed for its choreography, and many students feel that learning moves weeks before auditions creates opportunity for actors to dance and dancers to act. By participating, students will be able to showcase the combined skills of Altoona’s performing arts programs.
