Taylor Swift releases Red (Taylor’s Version) album

December 14, 2021

Taylor Swift released a new album called “Red” (Taylor’s Version) (+ A Message From Taylor) Nov, 12, 2021. According to Business Insider, this album has broken records for most streamed album by a female artist and the most streamed female artist in a single day on Spotify. Sources from c|net state that Taylor’s fandom believes that her newest album, “Red,” is about actor Jake Gyllenhaal.

I’ve been listening Taylor Swift ever since I heard her first song “Crazier” on a movie called “Hannah Montana: The Movie.” I first watched this movie in 2014 when I was 8 years old, and when I heard her song I was amazed and it was one of my favorite songs to listen to. After that, I started listening to her albums and one of my favorite albums I’ve ever listened to would be “Fearless.” I was always a big fan of Swift, I remember that I had a cut out board of her in my room by the time I was 10 years old. I just feel that she really takes her time to make the album and songs sound really good.

Swift made a short film with the song “All Too Well” featuring actor Sadie Sink portraying young Taylor Swift and Dylan O’Brien as “him” which all fans assume is Jake Gyllenhaal. This film reflects on her emotions and incidents that have happened throughout her relationship while playing the ten minute version of “All Too Well.”

When I first saw the film, “All Too Well: The Short Film,” my jaw dropped to the floor. Literally. There were so many emotions and conflicts in such a short time. The two actors Sink and O’Brien were both incredible. O’Brien and his gaslighting skills were on point too which I have to give props to. I know barely anything about Gyllenhaal, but from what I’ve seen in the film and the things the other fans say about him I do not like him at all, and you shouldn’t either.

Fans of Swift have done a lot of digging when she released her album trying to figure out if the album is about Gyllenhaal. While Swift hasn’t confirmed nor denied the theories and assumptions, fans have decided that this album is about him. This album resembles a heartbroken person. Some theories are about a scarf she had mentioned in her song “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)” A song lyric referring to the scarf is “But you keep my old scarf from that very first week. ‘Cause it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me.”

While there are Swift fans all around the world, there are some in Altoona as well. Junior Abigail Milliron feels that Taylor’s newest album was one of the best she’s listened to.

“When I was younger I listened to her song on the radio called ‘Blank Space’ and I started listening to her songs ever since. My top three songs I like from the Red (Taylor’s Version) album would be ‘All Too Well (10 Minute Version)’, ‘State Of Grace’ and ‘I Bet You Think About Me.’ I don’t like Jake Gyllenhall because he treated her badly when she was younger and their age gap is kind of insane. I’m glad to say I’m a proud Swiftie because I listen to her songs on a daily basis,” Milliron said.

“My reaction to the ‘All Too Well’ film contained shock and surprise. I didn’t expect the truth and acting it presented itself the way it did. I love the film and watch it all the time. I do believe that the film and other songs in this ‘Red’ album are definitely about the relationship Taylor had with Jake. The lyrics are describing the relationship between the two vividly,“ Taylor Swift fan of three years, senior Rachel Scheinberg said.

As fans have preferences over the songs they listen to, Scheinburg explained her top three favorites from Swift’s albums.

“My top three songs are definitely ‘State Of Grace,’ ‘Come Back…Be Here’ and ‘The Very First Night.’ I do believe that I am a true swiftie. I not only love Taylor’s music, but I love her as a person. Her morals and values show who she is as a person and she is a strong and independent woman that I look up to. Most hate that comes towards her is fueled with the misogynistic views that float around in society,” Scheinberg said.

Growing up Scheinberg has listened to Swift’s music and has grown closer to her songs.

“I have grown up of course listening to her music, but I would say that within the past two years I have begun to really dive into her discography. One of my favorite songs I’ve listened to when I was little was ‘Mean’ and I first listened to it when it played on vevo during morning television,” Scheinburg said

While recording this album Swift has included ten more songs she didn’t have in her “Red” album. Two of my favorite songs on this album are “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)” and “Red (Taylor’s Version).” Both songs are both catchy in my opinion. She really wrote how she was feeling and what she remembered and she put it in her songs.

Taylor Swift is very passionate about her songs and fans. I feel that a majority of her fans look up to her and take after what she does. When I listen to her songs, I usually jam it out with my friends or when I’m alone. Swift just turned thirty two yesterday and fans made cookies and brownies that they shared on TikTok to celebrate her birthday.
