Cell phones necessary

Leland Baker, Contributor

Dear Editor,

Our school district should be allowed and permitted to carry our cell phones around the school. Yes, I understand that it can cause some confusion with why we are using them and how we are using them. Most people will think that they will just be allowed on it all the time. This would not be the case; they will be used for educational purposes and for our safety.  The phones will be used for educational purposes by downloading apps that will help us with our school work but only if the teacher addresses the class to get out their phones. Another way phones will be used for educational purposes is by letting the kids look up answers when needed to be looked up and answered. The cell phones would be used for safety by calling someone if there is any type of emergency like a school shooting, or a  severe weather forecast. Another reason why I think we should be able to carry our phones and use them for class is because it would eliminate the Chromebooks and the thousands of dollars we spent on them. Eliminating the Chromebooks will give the school extra money to spend on supplies, the students, the teachers and most importantly the school.
