The 2022 seniors take time for a photo.

As the football season comes to a close, the Mountain Echo took time to sit down with some of the senior players.

Devin Hellopeter:

Q: How long have you been in football? 

A: “One year.”

Q: What was the highlight of your senior season? 

A: “Getting to play one game against State College.” 

Q: What do you think you will miss the most about the sport?

A: “I think I’ll miss the games because of the environment.”

Q: Who would you consider your biggest supporter? 

A: “My parents are my biggest supporters.”

Q: Was there any way you celebrated after the games? 

A: “I usually had a big dinner afterwards.”

Q: What is your proudest moment? 

A: “I’m proud that I made it through heat week and camp.”

Q: What is one thing you think you’ll take away from being on the football team? 

A: “Being with the team made me have more confidence and motivation. I think that will transfer over to my life post-football.”

Q: Is there a skill you’ve developed you think you’ll use in the future? 

A: “I’ve been able to build my strength with football, so I’d use that in the future.”

Q: Is there anything you want to add?

A: “I think practice is more important than the game.”

 

Alexander Yost:

Q: How long have you been in football? 

A: “Since I was in kindergarten when I was five.”

Q: What was the highlight of your senior season? 

A: “Beating Hollidaysburg. That is always a good feeling, and it gets you all pumped up for the rest of the season.”

Q: What do you think you will miss the most about the sport? 

A: “The thing I will miss the most is probably the time in the locker room after our camp during the summer. We would always play games,just hangout and share many laughs that will last a lifetime.”

Q: Who would you consider your biggest supporter?

A: “My teammates and my coaches. They always push and make me go harder whenever I am not giving 100% effort.”

Q: Was there any way you celebrated after the game? 

A: “We would all go into the locker room and dance after a big win.”

Q: What is your proudest moment? 

A: “The moment I’m most proud of is probably being there for my teammates and coaches.”

Q: What is one thing you think you’ll take away from being on the football team? 

A: “The one thing I will take away is the friendships you created and the brotherhood you made when playing with the team.”

Q: Did you ever have an injury from football? What was it and how did it happen? 

A: “I had a shoulder injury. Right now, I have an AC Joint Sprain in my shoulder. I was on kickoff and went to blow up the wedge and put my shoulder into this guy.”

Q: Is there a skill you’ve grown that you think you’ll use in the future?  

A: “The skill is to be there for your teammates when you need them, and be there for them whenever they need you.”

Q: Is there anything you want to add? 

A: “Football is a tough sport, and it truly shows if you are a man or not. The amount of times you get knocked down and have to get back up shows who you really are.”

 

Manny Miller

Q: How long have you been in football? 

A: “Since fourth grade.”

Q: What was the highlight of your senior season? 

A: “When I scored at a game and took my helmet off.”

Q: What do you think you will miss the most about the sport? 

A: “Scoring touchdowns and seeing the lights flash at Mansion.”

Q: Who would you consider your biggest supporter? 

A: “I’m my biggest supporter.”

Q: Was there any way you celebrated after the game? 

A: “Going out to eat.”

Q: What is the moment you’re most proud of? 

A: “Ninth grade football throwback game.”

Q: What is one thing you think you’ll take away from being on the football team? 

A: “Hard work pays off.”

Q: Is there a skill you’ve grown that you think you’ll use in the future? 

  A: “How to be persistent.”

Q: Where do you plan on going to college? 

A: “Penn State or Pitt.”

 

Sean Bettwy:

Q: How long have you been in football?

A: “Six years.”

Q: What was the highlight of your senior season? 

A: “Senior night.”

Q: What do you think you will miss the most about the sport?

A: “The memories that we created as a team.”

Q: Who would you consider your biggest supporter?

A: “My mom.”

Q: Was there any way you celebrated after the game?

A: “I would go home and take a nap before going out to eat with friends.”

Q: What is the moment you’re most proud of?

A: “Completing all of my seasons without giving up.”

Q: What is one thing you think you’ll take away from being on the football team?

A: “The use of teamwork and how to stay calm in high pressure situations.”

Q: Is there a skill you’ve grown that you think you’ll use in the future? 

A: “I think that football has taught me how to improvise.  In certain situations it is important to be able to think on your feet and make a decision quickly and stick with it.” 

Q: Where do you plan on going to college?

A: “Pitt or Penn State.”

Q: Is there anything you want to add? 

A: “Football is an amazing sport and has completely changed my life.  I highly recommend to everyone to at least give this sport a shot.”

 

Michael Riccio:

Q: How long have you been in football?

A: “Since I was four years old.”

Q: What was the highlight of your senior season? 

A: “Beating Hollidaysburg for the last time we played them.”

Q: What do you think you will miss the most about the sport?

A: “The connection between all the players.”

Q: Who would you consider your biggest supporter?

A: “My parents.”

Q: Was there any way you celebrated after the game?

A: “Going to dinner and going on late night drives.”

Q: What is your proudest moment?

A: “Having the memory to play every Friday for the high school team I love.”

Q: What is one thing you think you’ll take away from being on the football team?

A: “Never give up on people you trust.”

Q: Did you ever have an injury from football? What was it and how did it happen?

A: “Fortunately I’ve never had a major injury. I have broken my finger getting it stuck in a facemask, but that’s about it.”

Q: Is there a skill you’ve grown that you think you’ll use in the future? 

A: “Being mentally tough and not accepting failure.”

Q: Where do you plan on going to college?

A: “West Virginia University.”

 

Cameron Myers:

Q: How long have you been in football?

A: “10 years.”

Q: What was the highlight of your senior season? 

A: “Me making key blocks in the games.”

Q: What do you think you will miss the most about the sport?

A: “My teammates and everything we created together.”

Q: Who would you consider your biggest supporter?

A: “My mom.”

Q: Was there any way you celebrated after the game?

A: “Hanging out with my friends (Kolin Hite).” 

Q: What is the moment you’re most proud of?

A: “Sticking with football my entire life and creating a bond with my teammates.” 

Q: What is one thing you think you’ll take away from being on the football team?

A: “Keep making memories with your teammates. hey’re like a family.”

Q: Did you ever have an injury from football? What was it and how did it happen?

A: “Yes, I tore my ACL my senior year. I was blocking and my knee gave up, and I fell over.”

Q: Is there a skill you’ve grown that you think you’ll use in the future?

A: “Speaking, making friends and being more social.”

Q: Where do you plan on going to college?

A: “Penn State main.”

 

Marcus Amerine:

Q: How long have you been in football?

A: “Three years.”

Q: What was the highlight of your senior season? 

A: “Beating Hollidaysburg in front of our huge crowd was a surreal experience.”

Q: What do you think you will miss the most about the sport?

A: “I’ll miss going to battle with my brothers every game.”

Q: Who would you consider your biggest supporter?

A: “My biggest supporter is definitely my mom coming to every game and picking me up from all the practices.”

Q: Was there any way you celebrated after the game?

A: “Hanging out with my friends.”

Q: What is your proudest moment?

A: “I am most proud of our team battling against the adversity of injuries and still having a good season.”

Q: What is one thing you think you’ll take away from being on the football team?

A: “I took away the ability to be a teammate and work well with others.”

Q: Did you ever have an injury from football? What was it and how did it happen?

A: “I tore my MCL and fractured my patella during our game against Mifflin County because of an illegal chop block.”

Q: Is there a skill you’ve grown you think you’ll use in the future? 

A: “I believe that I learned the skill of understanding and picking my teammates back up.”

Q: Where do you plan on going to college?

A: “I don’t know exactly where I want to go to college yet.”
