Introduction to Publication students designed magazine covers to feature journalism students. Marli Closson designed this cover to feature Cassidy Klock.

Senior Cassidy Klock is an editor for the Mountain Echo and has improved her writing skills over the years. She loves art and hopes to help younger artists/journalists get started.

Although Klock is typically busy with journalism, she still has time to do things she loves.

“I typically enjoy painting, more specifically oil painting. I have a dog. His name is Ben. He has a two year old golden retriever…I spend a lot of time with him. Also, in my free time… I really enjoy doing things such as reading a book,” Klock said.

Besides art, Klock also has passions leading her to  help children and teach others.

“It has stuck me between two career paths. I don’t know whether or not I want to go into pediatric nursing or if I want to go into teaching. I would say that my passion really lies with helping and or teaching children,” Klock said.

Klock prefers painting landscapes.

“As I said I really enjoy oil painting, that’s my preferred medium. Sometimes I sketch, but I will never sketch faces. I will never paint people or animals. I am much more of a building, landscape, sunset, etc. type of artist,” Klock said.

Klock wants to  help upcoming journalists get started and get inspired.

“I never knew that I had the passion for it until I actually got into it. I definitely suggest if you just have a love for writing, give it a shot,” Klock said.

Klock is looking into colleges..

“Go[ing] to Penn State is probably my number one right now. I absolutely want to study abroad in London just like my mother. And it has a fantastic nursing program, one of the best in the country. It has all the programs that I really want to take part in,” Klock said.
