Awards. Junior Academy of Science members hold up their certificates. Students received certificates and medals for their hard work on their projects and presentations skills.

On May 14, 15 and 16, seven Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Sciences (PJAS) members will be competing in the PJAS States competition at Penn State University. The seven members include juniors Jacob Ceglar, Laney Yost, Connor Matosziuk and Crow Young; sophomores Josh Lang and Andrea Slusser; and freshman Melissa Krainer.

“I did the bacterial growth of C. Diff. [Clostridioides difficile] with the presence of three different cleaners: detergent, isopropyl alcohol and bleach,” Yost said. “I’m excited. I made a lot of revisions, and I did a trial two of my experiment. So I have some more data.”

Students will have the opportunity to view different parts of the campus and showcase their research or experiment results at the competition.
