Attention NHS Seniors: All community service documentation is due to Mrs. Dumm in B120
by Friday, May 26 th .

Attention Students: The National Honor Society and the Student Council are holding a coin
drive each day this week in the cafeteria to benefit the Sean Rover and Kaylee Kruise Smiles
Fund in support of the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation. The class that raises the
most money will get to pie some teachers in the face! Yesterday’s total amount raised was
$52.32 with the sophomore class coming in 1 st place donating almost half of the total at
$24.27. The second place currently belongs to the juniors with $13.33, the third place to the
seniors with $10.36, and the last place are the freshmen with $4.46. Please help us raise
money for this great cause each day this week in the cafeteria.

at [email protected] by Friday, May 26, at noon.

Attention Graduating Seniors: You will be receiving a note card in homeroom on Wednesday,
May 31 st . This card is going to have your assigned seat and row leader’s name for Graduation.
You need to have this card at Graduation practice as well as Graduation. If you have
questions, see Mr. Nedimyer.

Attention girls interested in playing volleyball next school year: There will be an
informational meeting on Thursday after school in the lobby of the Fieldhouse. All girls
interested in playing for the Lady Spikers in the fall are encouraged to attend. If you have
questions, please see Coach Saboe in room B315.

Attention boys interested in playing Golf for the High School Golf team this fall: We will be
having an organizational meeting for all boys interested in trying out for the Altoona High
School boys golf team this fall on Tuesday, May 30 th at 2:45 PM in the Lobby of the Fieldhouse.
Please see Coach Kozak if you are unable to attend this meeting.

Calling all witches and wizards! The Mt. Lion Observatory at Fort Roberdeau will host “Harry
Potter Trivia Night” this Friday, May 26 th . Parking begins at 7:30 PM, and the trivia challenge
runs from 8:00-10:00 PM. Bring blankets, lawn chairs, jackets, and snacks as your team is
quizzed about 7 years of magic and mystery at Hogwarts. Use the Observatory’s telescopes
and explore the early summer sky while judges tally scores between rounds. The cost is $20
per team up to 6 people. Muggles welcome.

Attention all students: Any student interested in playing tennis and attending summer tennis
clinics, please sign up in room A221 (Frau Mitchell’s room).

There will be a brief meeting for any boys and girls in grades 9 through 11 interested in
running cross-country in the fall of 2023 on Wednesday, May 24 th during 8 th period in room
B201. Hope to see you there!

Attention Seniors: The Bedford County Convoy of Diesel Dreams is excited to announce that
they will be awarding two scholarships worth at least $1,250 each. Don’t delay. Stop by the
Guidance Office Literature rack to pick up an application. Submission deadline is 7/21.

Attention All Students and Staff: Need to fulfill your PB Meltaway craving? This is your last
chance to purchase a PB Meltaway for this school year! They are available for $1 per bar in
Mrs. Skomra’s classroom in A219. Please stop by if you’d like to purchase a taste of the
chocolatey, peanut buttery goodness of the PB Meltaway. Get one this week before they are
gone!

Friday, May 26 is Genius Hour sharing day. Because all student devices will be turned in
before May 26, the sharing plans have been modified. All students are asked to share their
Genius Hour projects on Twitter and / or Instagram using the hashtag #aahsgenius.  In
addition to the hashtag, your post should include a video of you describing your project. If
you have a product to show, please include it in the video. You can easily record a video
using your phone. Students who do not have the ability to record should see Mr. Baker for
assistance. We will highlight some of the Genius Hour projects during the Teacher Talent
Show.  In order for your project to be considered, you must post to social media no later
than 3 PM Thursday, May 25, 2023. Be sure to set the post’s privacy to public. Don’t forget
the #aahsgenius hashtag!
