On Saturday, Sept. 2, the annual Altoona Labor Day Parade will be held downtown. The parade begins at 10 a.m. and will last roughly 30 minutes.
“I think part of [why it is held on Saturday] is that the labor unions are trying to protect their holiday on Monday. It makes sense that they would do it on Saturday,” band director Larry Detwiler said.
The parade route will begin adjacent to the Green Avenue Towers, and will end next to the old Verizon building on 11th Avenue. The parade will also feature a performance from the marching band.
