Announcements for 9/25/2023

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2023

Attention all AAHS students: Please do not walk through the parking lots surrounding AAHS upon arrival or at dismissal. Students MUST use the sidewalks and please be award of your surroundings as this is a safety issue.

Get your games on!
Come out and watch our boys soccer at home this week on MON and WED, Girls Soccer on THURS, and our girls volleyball team TONIGHT (Mon) as they all play home games. You don’t have many opportunities left to catch these teams in action at home!
Also, the second #FUNKYFRIDAY theme for September is this FRIDAY, Sept. 29 and the theme is HAWAIIAN! Dress up in your favorite Hawaiian outfits as we mourn the loss of summer this week, with the arrival of fall. One lucky student wins a gift card!

Eighty-seven Astronomy and FLC Club members visited Fort Roberdeau last week to plan out their haunts for the 7th Annual Haunted Trail to be held on Saturday, October 7th. You were all excellent, and no major mountain pie or telescope injuries were reported. There will be an important meeting this Thursday, September 28th right after school from 2:50-3:30 PM. Permissions slips for the Haunted Trail will be handed out, and final planning completed. You can still help on October 7th, even if you didn’t attend our planning trip! Hope to see you there!

Attention Students: Are you interested in being a lawyer? Do you enjoy acting or theatre? Are you looking to improve your public speaking skills? If so, Mock Trial could be the club for you! The AAHS Mock Trial Team will hold its first informational meeting this Thursday, 9/28, in room B-311 from 3:00 – 3:30 PM. If you have any questions or cannot attend, please email Mrs. Negri.

Attention students: If you have given any thought to joining the military after graduation then you will want to be sure you are here on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week during lunches. On Tuesday, Sergeant Little from the Army will have a table set up in the cafeteria and, on Wednesday, Petty Officer Wu will be here from the Navy. Please be sure to stop by and talk to these gentlemen.

Attention swimmers: We will start swim clinics today from 3-5 in the pool. Clinics will be held Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. There will be team members there to help guide new people with strokes. Females wear one-piece suits and boys wear swim trunks or jammers.

Attention 10th through 12th grade students: Did you pass Art 1 with a 93% or higher? Is your overall GPA above an 86%? If so, National Art Honor Society wants your membership! Applications can be found in the Art classrooms. Please see
Mrs. Curry, Mr. Bowser or Mr. Hoover with any questions. Applications are due by September 29th.

Attention Seniors looking for scholarship opportunities: The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation awarded over 6,750 scholarships last year totaling over $81 million in educational support. This year, applications are being accepted through October 2nd. Please stop by the literature rack outside of the Guidance office to pick up a packet of information.

Attention Scholarship Seekers: If you are a senior and have been employed at one of the Member Clubs of Western Pennsylvania Golf Association as a club employee in the clubhouse, the golf shop, swimming pool or tennis courts for at least 2 seasons, then be sure to stop by the literature rack outside of the guidance suite and pick up a scholarship application. Applications must be mailed in and the deadline is Nov. 30th.
