The Courage for Kiera Foundation scholarship is now available. Seniors who have been with the music department for at least two years are eligible for this scholarship.
Applicants are required to write a 300- word essay about how they have displayed courage in their lives. The winner of the scholarship will receive $2,500 towards the post-high school education of their choice.
“This scholarship can help with financial assistance for college,” guidance counselor Susan Fox said. “It also recognizes the challenges overcome by a cancer survivor. It encourages applicants to pursue education. Applicants can share their story and motivate other cancer survivors to pursue their dreams.”
“If a student is awarded the scholarship, they are representing a very courageous young woman who dealt with cancer most of her life,” guidance counselor Julie Yahner said.
Scholarships can be found outside the guidance office and must be turned in before March 10.
