Attention Astronomy Club and FLC students: Permission slips for Monday’s St. Patrick’s Day walking field trip to the historical Church in the Middle of the Block and Greenbean Coffee are due no later than this Friday, so we can give both venues accurate headcounts. Permission slips turned in last minute on Monday will not be accepted. Wear comfortable shoes and bring jackets, as the temperatures drop quickly at this time of year. But while the temperatures are dropping, the Astronomy will be heating up as we explore the rooftop observatory and enjoy St. Patrick’s Day-themed coffees. Be there!
Attention AAHS students: We teachers know you all stay up until the early hours each morning, because you Teens think you’re invincible and don’t need sleep. So why not enjoy some late night Astronomy this Friday morning? Take a break from your Minecraft marathon and peek outside between 2:26 a.m. – 3:31 a.m. You will see the Moon like you’ve never seen it before, as it grows a deep rusty red color during “totality” of a total lunar eclipse! The Moon passes directly through Earth’s inner shadow or “umbra”, and the only sunlight it receives is filtered by Earth’s atmosphere. Pray for clear skies, as this should be the astronomical event of 2025. Then you can get back to showing those 8-bit Creepers what’s up before Mom makes breakfast a few hours later.
Attention 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th grade students: The AAHS Lioneer Dance Team is announcing that we will be using an in-person tryout format for Lioneer tryouts. All students entering grades 9-12 for the 2025-2026 school year are eligible to try out. Please email Mrs. Schmoke at [email protected] if you are interested in trying out. Provide your name, grade and school email address. Tryouts for the Lioneer Dance Team will be held on Tuesday, April 1st from 2:45 p.m. – 4 p.m. and Thursday, April 3 at 2:45 p.m. – 5 p.m.
