The high school girls’ varsity softball team has broken their losing streak against their rival team this year. The rival team is Hollidaysburg and Altoona hasn’t beaten them in a long time. Altoona competed against them on May 15 winning with a  score of 10-7.

“We worked hard as a team to get where we are now,” sophomore Hannah Strawmire said.

Strawmire is a pitcher for the varsity team and just recovered from a minor injury.

“I think the team played a great game, and it was a great start for me to recover just in time,” Strawmire said.

The team was very proud of their accomplishment and plans on working harder next year, now that the season is over.

The team did well overall during their season this year.

“Our team worked hard this year although we could improve in some ways,” sophomore Kendra Houp said.

All the girls from each team are excited to play again next year. The seniors graduating this year will be missed by their teammates.
