On Oct. 12 and 13, juniors voted for their class officers. The results of this election were announced on Oct. 15. The winners include Macy Yost as president, Brooke Harrington as vice president, Carly Mann as secretary and Mayah Marasco as treasurer.

Being an active member of student council since junior high along with gymnastics and volleyball since elementary school, Yost has learned a lot about teamwork, organizational skills and motivation.

“I am very ambitious and love to take charge while listening to others and making compromises. I am emotionally intelligent and truly care about all of the students at the school. I ran for president because I really want to take an active role in the school and make this year great for all of the students. Due to all of the uncertainty and change this year, I want to take on the challenge and use the opportunities to make the most of this school year. I also want to better develop my leadership skills and represent my classmates and all of their great ideas,” Yost said.

Yost’s goal for the year is to make it as normal as possible.

“I would love to do all the fun events and fundraising we have done in the past. Even though there will be obstacles due to COVID-19, there are still so many creative ideas we can turn into fun activities. I look forward to figuring out how to make this year the best one yet and using the current situation to think outside of the box,” Yost said.

Harrington looks forward to going back to school to push forward with the committee.

“As of now we don’t really know what we’ll be doing for the class because we are not in school. So far we are just brainstorming ideas, but once we get back to school we will know. I ran for vice president because I want to help make the school more enjoyable for students and to make our class have a really fun two more years of high school,” Harrington said.

She also has goals for the year.

“My goals for the junior class this year are to make everyone happy at school and to plan some fun things for the students that will make this year more memorable,” Harrington said.

Mann decided to join the committee this year as a way to contribute to the school.

Junior class secretary Carly Mann

“I wanted to be a voice for the juniors. I saw it as a great opportunity to get further involved with the school. I chose to run for the chair of secretary because I’ve always loved collaborating with others. I also hope to run my senior year because I will have the experience under my belt, and so our graduating class continues to have a voice,” Mann said.

She also looks forward to being a decision maker.

“I work well with others and I look forward to being one of the major decision makers when it comes to

community service events, raising money for different organizations with fundraisers and more. This year, I hope to implement new yet safe ways for our school to have a seemingly normal and fun year. Although this school year is far from traditional, I think it is important to have some sort of normalcy to our everyday lives,” Mann said.

Marasco ran for treasurer to show leadership and responsibility.

“I ran for treasurer because I can bring leadership, positivity and organization to the committee. This year as an officer, I hope to bring positive and fun ideas to unite our student body. By being class treasurer, I hope to bring leadership, and I look forward to taking on responsibilities of holding an officer position for the junior class,” Marasco said.
