The Annual PA Envirothon will take to the virtual scene this year. Students from the school’s Earthkeepers Club participate in this competition testing their knowledge on the topics of Soils and Land Use, Aquatic Ecology, Forestry, Wildlife and Environmental issues.

Due to COVID-19, it will be virtual. The competitors will start to prepare in  January by studying certain topics via Google Classroom and participating in work-shop activities.

“The club sponsors and members look forward every year to the Envirothon to test our skills against others,” Robin DeShong said.

There is a lot of excitement surrounding the competition. Winners will receive a cash prize.

However, there is some concern around the virtual aspect of the competition this year.

“A virtual competition will be more challenging than in person because using a picture is more difficult than having the object and being able to touch it and identify it,”  DeShong said.
