Getting Ready Megan Russler joins the faculty this year to teach French. She spent some time in France prior to teaching here.

Q: Where did you go to high school and could you describe your high school experience?

 A: I went to State College. I had an awesome high school experience with various group of friends. I loved high school and all of my teachers.

Q: How have the first few weeks of school gone for you?

A:  It was pretty good; I really appreciate help from coworkers. They have been so friendly and supportive.

Q: If you could describe your new classroom in one word what would it be? 

A: I have many words, but I would best describe them as humorous and energetic.

Q: Could you describe your prior teaching experience?

A: I have been teaching for 15 years. I taught in France and the US. I also taught high school university and elementary schools.

Q: What got you interested in the subject you teach and what was your favorite growing up?

A: I had an interest for French when I saw the gargoyles in Notre Dame. Besides French I would also teach English.

Q: What brought you to Altoona to teach? 

A: I moved back to the US to take care of my grandfather, and when I wanted to teach French, they had an opening so I took it.

Q: What inspired you to become a teacher?

A: I love being a high school French teacher, and I share a passion for learning

Q: Why did you choose to teach high school?

A: I absolutely love the curiosity and independence of high school students

Q: What would be a suggestion you have to make AAHS better?

A:  There is nothing I would change.

Q: If you could teach another subject what would it be and why?

A:  If I wasn’t teaching high school, I would teach elementary. I would also teach English.

Q: What is your go to snack or lunch item to bring with you to school?

A: I love cherry tomatoes and red peppers.

Q: If you could choose one fast food restaurant to be in the school cafeteria what would it be and what would you order there?

A: I would never eat fast food. I hate it. I actually find it very disgusting.

Q: Who has been the most help to you as you have started this new job?

A: Some coworkers that helped me were Veronica Skomra and Sandra Mitchell.
