“I’m In”
Senior Parker Cook will attend Penn State Altoona after graduation. In this senior special blog, Cook discusses her excitement for the university’s music and theater programs, and why she’s looking forward to her future.
Q: What college will you be attending?
A: Penn State Altoona
Q: Why did you decide to go there?
A: I chose to go there because it is close to home. I can also do the 2+2 program and transfer to University Park Campus for my last two years.
Q: What are you majoring in or planning on studying in?
A: I will be majoring in marketing with a minor in theater.
Q: Will you be participating in sports/extracurricular activities?
A: I plan to participate in music and theater activities on campus.
Q: What excites you the most about college?
A: What excites me the most about college is the freedom in my schedule. I will get to spread out my classes and set my own schedule.
Q: Is there anything about college that intimidates you?
A: I think the thing that intimidates me the most about college is getting to know a whole new set of people. I have been within the same district my whole life and practically grew up with the people here at AAHS, so it will be a different experience for me getting to know the students at a new school.
Q: What other colleges were you looking at as other options?
A: I was pretty set on Penn State from the beginning.
Q: Why did you think this college was the best choice for you? What about the school interested you?
A: I think this is the best choice for me because I will be saving a lot of money in housing by living at home. I love the community here and I didn’t feel I was ready to leave yet.
Q: How do you feel about senior year ending so soon?
A: I am getting very sentimental about the end of the school year and reflecting on the last 13 years here. I will definitely miss my friends and teachers here, but I am also excited to start a new season in my life.
Q: What do you think will be the biggest difference between high school and college?
A: I think the biggest difference between high school and college is the responsibility that is placed on students.
