Yes, I swore in back in November.

I enlisted as a Combat Medic so my MOS number is 68w.

I leave for basic training on June 20 for Fort Jackson, and I will be there for nine weeks. After that I will be at Fort Sam and/or Fort Houston in Texas about 16 weeks for my special medical training stuff

Do you have any plans on furthering your education during or after your service?

I’m still deciding if I want to make a career out of it. I was also thinking about going into paramedics or EMT.

What does being in the military mean to you?

Being in the military means fighting and honoring my country and protecting the ones I love back home. Even if it’s not exactly fighting, I still want to make a difference in the world.

How did your parents feel when you told them you were joining the military?

My parents were nervous, but they fully support my decision. Of course they’re worried, but it’s just because they care.
