Cossitor to hold tap workshops
On Nov. 5, Nov. 19, Dec. 3, Dec. 10 and Dec. 17 the Performing Arts Club will hold tap workshops. Anyone is welcome to attend. Workshops are free and require no previous dance experience. Workshops are run by Michele Dugan, the assistant director and choreographer for the club, and Anne Diminick, a recent WVU graduate in dance who has returned to the area to teach in several local dance studios. They will both also be teaming up to choreograph “42nd Street.”
“There’s two benefits: first, because these workshops are open to the whole school, it gives some of our students an opportunity to try out dancing for the first time to see if they like it. It might be too intimidating to start at a studio at an older age; plus it often requires payment. Our workshops are free and open to newcomers at any time. The second benefit is it helps our potential cast for the musical learn the basics and get a head start on our show rehearsals,” drama director Ben Cossitor said.
