Sophomore Abigail Shearer  is a reporter and is on the Mountain Echo staff and enjoys it. In her free time she likes to take pictures, draw and paint, create jewelry and hang out with family and her girlfriend. Shearer has big plans after high school.

I do not plan on going into an art profession after high school. I plan on being a mental health technician, “ Shearer said.

Shearer is taking child development classes instead of art classes to further her learning and focus on her career path.

“I have wanted to be a mental health technician for about two years. In my past, I struggled with my mental health and had to seek help for it. I was met by an amazing staff who helped me through a lot,” Shearer said.

Though Shearer is only a sophomore, she knows what she wants to do already. She has a support system at the school as well.

“I was met by an amazing staff who helped me through a lot. They greeted me with open arms and never had any negative words. They pushed me to keep trying even though everything was hard,” Shearer said.

Shearer has plans set. She wants to help other adolescents the way she was helped. She plans on making a big impact on other kids and showing them they are worth more than they think.

“Seeing their growth from when I first met them until they leave would be an amazing thing to see knowing I was a positive part of their lives,”  Shearer said.
