This year, the Greater Altoona Career And Technology Center will hold an open house on  Tuesday Dec. 6, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at 1500 Fourth Avenue, Altoona, PA.

“The nature of having an open house means that they open their doors, so you don’t have to be right there at five o’clock. You show up when you want to show up within that time window,“ guidance counselor Eileen Starr said.  

This allows students and adults to tour all of the programs they have.  Some of the classes offered to tour include: Digital Communication, Graphic Design, Cosmetology, and many more. Instruction in Digital Communication, but is not limited to, audio/visual technology, troubleshooting techniques, computer operation and maintenance, data transmission and management, oral and written communication, math and physics, concept development, layout and design, computer graphics, image capture, audio, video web related technologies and animation.

Student helpers will be there to direct visitors.

“They had a lot of student volunteers that night. If parents and students show up at their doors and say ‘Could somebody help me get to the welding classroom’, students will point them in the right direction or walk there, so they don’t have to worry about finding their way around the building,” Starr said.
