Sexual Assault Awareness Month
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). There are many resources out there online if someone has been sexually assaulted and needs help.
“I think we have time to acknowledge that these things do happen and that there are resources available for all students to bring awareness to the situation,” guidance counselor Melissa Wasko said. “Something I can tell people who are going through it is there are people willing to help and listen. There are people that have similar experiences that can help validate what you’re going through and can provide resources for you to kind of get through the situation.”
The National Sexual Assault Hotline is available 24 hours. The phone number to call is 1-800-656-4673. RAINN also has more information on their website.
