On Feb. 14, all levels of French classes began to build brackets for the annual Manie Musical competition. Participants choose which song will win out of the fifteen nominated options on the bracket. Similar to March Madness, each vote eliminates a song and pushes the successor closer to winning, or “vainqueur” in French.
“I love Manie Musicale and I look forward to it every year. I get to enjoy making a bracket, wait excitedly for winners to be announced each week and-the best part-I get some new songs to add to my personal playlists,” AP French student Camryn MacAlarney said.
The event is a nonprofit organized by teachers across the world in order to promote the French language and culture through music. Official voting begins on March 6.
