The drama club will be performing their annual spring musical, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” April 4-6 in the auditorium. There is also a senior citizen preview on April 3. The shows will begin at 7:00 p.m.
The musical follows the biblical story of Joseph and his many brothers. Joseph is his father’s favorite son and is gifted an amazing dreamcoat. He is schemed upon by his brothers and sold to slavery where he ends up imprisoned.
“It’s the story of Joseph from the Bible, but it’s told in a very entertaining way. It’s kind of retold through these other styles of music. It has a lot of humor and comedy in it, but it’s also a great family show,” drama adviser Ben Cossitor said.
Senior Jane Fox is cast as one of the narrators. She narrates the musical by performing songs corresponding with the storyline.
“I think the most exciting thing is that I get to have songs I can sing by myself because I’m a lead, and I don’t usually get leads. So, I think that’s just going to be really exciting to be able to be a lead for one of the musicals and maybe even get nominated for awards,” Fox said.
Fox has done the musical yearly for the drama club. This year is a little different from others for her because her father will also be cast in the show, history teacher Thomas Fox.
“I’m pretty excited. He’s never been in one of my shows that I’ve been in. I’m very close with my dad, and he is with my sisters. He got to coach them a lot in their sports, and I’ve never gotten to do something like that with him. So, I’m excited to be able to do one of my hobbies with him,” Fox said.
Senior Ethan Eisenhart is playing Joseph, the lead.
“I just feel like I’ve always loved the idea of acting on stage and being someone or portraying another character that you would not usually portray. Being on stage is very breathtaking, very surreal and fun,” Eisenhart said.
The musical showcases hours of hard work and dedication put in by the students and staff. Students can display their support by buying a ticket and acquiring a seat on opening night.
“I think everyone should come to see the show this year because I feel like it tells a really good story of a person being belittled. I feel like some people could relate to that on their own terms. If you stay strong and keep pushing, you can make it,” Eisenhart said.
