As of 2024, all students are required to take a swim test. This is something the school has wanted to implement over the years. The casualties that took place over the summer were just one of the deciding factors to start the swim test this year.
“Having the facility that we have and not using it to its full potential is a shame on us,” swim instructor Megan Yingling said. “I want to know that all graduating students have the ability to save themselves if ever in a situation. Swimming is a life saving skill. My intention is not to have students hate swimming, I just want to know that they will be safe in or around the water.”
All students will need to sign up for their specific test day. That day will count as a normal 10 point day. If they don’t participate, it will result in a zero for the day. This began on Sept.11.
