The girls’ volleyball team is facing a challenging season, grappling with a series of tough losses. Despite the setbacks, the team remains determined to push forward. Head coach John Saboe acknowledged the difficulties but expressed confidence in the team’s abilities.
“Having the goal in mind to win, our players will continue to work harder and that has been paying off. We’re starting to see a lot of progress here towards the end of the season,” Saboe said.
Senior Sami Page echoed the coach’s emotions.
“The recent losses haven’t really affected us as a team,” Page said. “We continue to practice everyday and through that we know our capabilities. The team will improve and hopefully see more success to close out the season.”
The team is set in the Mid Penn Conference in the Commonwealth division. Being a Quad-A school, the team faces unique challenges that smaller schools may not face. Quad-A schools compete against similarly sized programs and schools, which results in highly competitive matches and difficult opponents. This makes it much more difficult to consistently perform and move up the ranks in the conference.
“Being part of a conference full of so many powerhouse schools is intimidating sometimes,” senior Ellaina Saylor said. ”We just have to remember that we are fully capable of competing and climbing the ranks within the conference and division.”
The next home game will be against Williamsport on Oct. 16 in the fieldhouse. JV at 5:30 p.m. and Varsity at 6:30 p.m..
