The football team found their rhythm, earning their first win of the year on Friday, Oct. 11. The Mountain Lions defeated Chambersburg at Chambersburg’s home stadium with a score of 21-14.
Juniors Logan Wukovich, who’s a middle linebacker and tight end, along with Michael Chisolm, wide receiver and safety, helped make the win possible for the team.
The preparation wasn’t any different from the other weeks.
“We did the same things we do every week to prepare. This week we had great execution in all three phases of the game: offense, defense and special teams,” head coach Vince Nedimyer said.
Going into past games, the team knew they were going to have to put up a “good fight” to claim the victory. However, when it came to Chambersberg they knew they had a good chance.
“Last week we knew that we had a really good chance at winning. There was a lot of trash talking from the other team, and we just wanted to prove them all wrong,” Chisolm said.
Wukovich is currently ranked first in the Midpenn for tackles. According to him, it motivates him, but he is also thinking about how many tackles he can get in the next game.
“I think that this win boosted our confidence a lot; we’re just really grateful to get a win,” Wukovich said. “After praying with my teammates before the game I told them, ‘no matter what, we have to give the game 100%, and that’s what we will continue to do.’”
This win showed the team’s ability. With the defense making stops, along with the offense’s response to taking the ball, the team was able to battle late through the second half and claim a victory.
“The win shows that we have the ability to make plays that win football games,” Nedimyer said.
The team will play their last game Friday Oct. 18.
