On Oct. 31, the girls’ soccer team claimed victory against the McDowell Trojans. The concluding score of the match was 6-2.
By half, the score was 3-0, with Mountain Lions on top. Goals were scored by senior Lia Sankey, and junior Sophia O’Dea.
“It was just so electrifying scoring when the stakes are so high,” O’Dea said. “I can see our team going even deeper into this playoff run, and look forward to see how our season turns out.”
During the second half of the game, three more goals were scored. One by Sankey, and the two others by juniors Adelyn Himmelwright and Tatum Shoeman.
“The whole game I was eager to find the right opportunity to score.Eventually it was given to me, and I executed,” Himmelwright said. “That feeling can’t be replicated; scoring a goal knowing your whole team is cheering for you is one of the best feelings ever,”
“These past few games have been very difficult for all of us, struggling with the recent tragedies,” sophomore Haylee Rodriguez said. “But we continue to stay determined and win more games for the lives that have been lost.”
The teams next playoff game will be held at Mansion Park on Nov. 5 at 7:00 p.m. against Seneca Valley.
