A reminder to the 9th grade students and teachers of the GACTC assemblies today and Wednesday. Ninth grade students with 4th period in the A building will attend on November 12. Ninth grade students with 4th period in the B building will attend on November 13.
Attention Astronomy Club: Please stop by the Planetarium today or Wednesday to pick up a yearbook group photo pass from Mr. Krug. He will have passes outside of the Planetarium back door, so please don’t interrupt class while he is teaching. The Astronomy Club photo is at 1:45 p.m. this Wednesday. Only students with the correct photo pass can attend.
Attention Black Student Union members! Please make note of some upcoming important dates and events. Our next meeting will be held Wednesday 11/13 right after school in Mrs. Stephens’ room, A229. Also, Wednesday 11/13 is our club photo. Please pick up your pass in A208 on either Tuesday or Wednesday — you MUST have this pass to get out of class for the photo. Finally, our next field trip to Baker Mansion to view the Underground Railroad exhibit is Wednesday 11/20. Please pick up your field trip permission slips in A229.
Attention Astronomy Club: Due to the craziness of the short week, our next meeting will not be until Thursday, November 14. We will recap Haunted Fort Roberdeau, and enjoy some free popcorn and a spooky Mr. Krug presentation on the Planetarium dome. The event will run from 2:50 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., so stay tuned for details!

Attention anyone interested in Indoor Track and Field: There will be an organizational meeting Wednesday, November 13 immediately after school in room A225. The meeting will last about 30 minutes. See Coach Adams with any questions.
Club group photo days are today and tomorrow (November 12 and 13). Groups are scheduled to have photos taken on the stairs beside room B130. Please check the schedule outside B130 or the cafeteria for group photo times. Your adviser should provide a pass. See Mrs. Vanish or your club adviser with any questions.
Attention Junior Academy of Science Club members: Group pictures are today and tomorrow for all clubs. Time for group pictures is posted in google classroom. You will need to pick up a pass from Miss Kutruff in A308 before Wednesday to attend the picture. See google classroom for more details! Think Science!
The November meeting for FBLA must be rescheduled. The new date will be November 21 in B130 at 2:45 p.m. However, all field trip permission slips must be turned in by November 15. If I do not have your slip, you will not be registered to attend regionals.
Seniors: Are you planning to attend college after graduation? Have you completed at least 25 hours of documented community service and maintain at least an 85% or higher in all of your classes? If you can answer “yes” to all of these questions, be sure to stop by the literature rack outside of Guidance and pick up an application for the Richard L. McEldowney Academic Scholarship. The deadline to submit a completed application to the Guidance Office is December 4 – no exceptions.
Seniors: Stop by the literature rack to find a new scholarship offered by the family of Robert Hite. Scholarships are being awarded to 1 male student and 1 female student who exemplify outstanding performance in the areas of Academic Achievement, Citizenship, leadership and community service. The deadline to submit a completed application to the Guidance Office is December 4 – no exceptions.
The American Legion is announcing several Scholarship Opportunities for students in grades 9 through 12, as well as an Essay contest with cash prizes. The essay is entitled: “Is the American Dream Still Relevant Today?” and must be submitted by January 8. There is a separate opportunity through their High School Oratorical Scholarship Program where the winner is awarded a $7,500 Scholarship in this constitutional speech contest with an application deadline of December 1. If these opportunities are not a good fit for you, the American Legion has also provided information about 4 additional scholarships and 2-week long camps with the possibility to earn more scholarship money.
