Q: What’s your name?
A: ¨Tristan Sunderland–Ebersole.¨
Q: Why do you have two last names?
A:¨My parents, basically, were really stubborn that they both gave me their last names.¨
Q: What grade are you in?
A: ¨I’m in eleventh. I’m a junior.¨
Q: What’s your favorite club out of all the clubs you’ve been in?
A: ¨Probably Key Club because I just like finding stuff, and I like knowing that so many people go to stuff I make and I set up. They enjoy it¨
Q: What made you interested in publications when you took Intro to Pub? A:¨Honestly, I didn’t really think about it. But, I really did not like broadcasting. It was a lot. I decided to take a swing at yearbook and maybe at newspaper, but I found out I had to take Intro to Publication. So that’s why I took it. I just wanted to do yearbook. And, my one friend, Miley, she was in it, that’s why I wanted to take Publications.¨
Q: What are you most looking forward to this year?
A: ¨Probably for it to be over and I really just want the yearbook to be fully completed and put together with the hard work people have put in and all the photos I’ve taken. I want them to see them all in the yearbook because hard work pays off.”
Q: What was the hard part of being in Intro to Publications?
A: ¨The hardest part was probably turning in my stuff.¨
Q: Why was it hard to turn your stuff in?
A: ¨Sophomore year was really, really rough for me for a lot of reasons. I had a lot of trouble turning in my assignments on time. I learned some other stuff.”
Q: In your opinion, how do you think being in the publication program will help you in the future?
A: ¨Honestly, it has gotten me better at answering questions and thinking on my feet and thinking fast and making solutions, as well as writing, layout and pages.”
Q: How is Intro to Publications different from yearbook, and which one do you like better?
A: I like yearbook better. I get a lot more freedom. I like to be able to do the design. In Intro to Publications, you did a little bit of everything and I didn’t really vibe. Writing is not my thing; it’s never been my thing. That’s why I knew I didn’t want to do the newspaper. I really just like design parts more and the layout and making layouts of pages. I like talking to people and getting quotes.”
Q: If you could become a journalist in the future, what type of journalism would you do? And why would you do that type of writing?
A: ¨If I wanted to be a journalist, I’d probably like an outlet for some memories. I would want to ask the hard questions. I would like a talk show, or a podcast or to interview celebrities and famous people.¨
Q: Do you like talking? Are you a social person?
A: Yes, I’m a very social person. My whole dream is to be able to make an impact and get down to the truth about stuff. I want to make stuff known to people. Make the world a brighter place. ¨
