Betsy Cron teaches Early Childhood Development for eighth period, first semester and fifth period, second semester. For one of their final projects, they make personalized nurseries out of shoeboxes.
“It’s just a fun way to wrap up, because right now we’re at the ninth month,” Cron said. “We’re in the holding period, and we’re not talking about delivery yet. So this is when moms are tired, excited, they’ve got all the information and they’re ready to roll. So it’s sort of like that little bit of a break, hands-on fun, because you actually create furniture and everything. It’s a lot of building and making it your own and making it look how you want it to look. Just like a mom who is having a baby would. They have that image in their mind, because as soon as we’re done with it then we roll into baby delivery.”
In this class, students learn about prenatal development, including what a mother needs in order to deliver and thrive with a happy, healthy baby.
