Orchestra Districts to be held

Districts for orchestra will take place from Jan 9 – 11. Each year, students that participate in orchestra get the chance to compete at districts to be placed at a certain ranking for their respective instruments. Junior Jamin Dong is participating in districts for first violin.

“I have high hopes for this year, I have improved tremendously since last year’s districts,” Dong said. “I love to play all sorts of musical instruments, and to be able to compete with other students from different schools while doing what I enjoy the most is exciting.”

I’ve always loved to write, and after last year’s Intro to Pub class, it inspired me to join the newspaper staff. I am a junior here at the high school, and love to learn. Outside of school, I love to be active, from playing pickup basketball, to playing disc golf, and even doing some pickle balling. I also love music. My favorite artists are Tyler, The Creator, Frank Ocean, and Steve Lacy.

I signed up for Intro to Pub not knowing what it was and it was the best decision I made. I’ve loved photography and writing for as long as I can remember. This will be my first year on Mountain Echo and Horseshoe Yearbook. Outside of classes, I partake in drama club and Black Student Union. When I’m not here in the school, I’m drawing or reading.
