After recently completing my 15th Disney trip over Christmas, I wanted to take the opportunity to rank my 10 favorite rides. Each time I visit the parks, I experience something new, or see a ride in a different light and this trip was no exception. Disney rides are so much more than just attractions; they’re pieces of immersive storytelling, innovative design, and nostalgia all rolled into one.
1. “Guardians of the Galaxy:” Cosmic Rewind”
Rating – 10/10
As the top ride, “‘Guardians of the Galaxy:’ Cosmic Rewind” is truly a game-changer for Disney theme parks. The combination of thrilling coaster elements with immersive storytelling makes this a must-see for any Disney fan or roller coaster enthusiast. The ride has a selection of six songs, and one is randomly chosen for each ride, creating a unique and personalized experience. Overall, it’s an outstanding blend of adventure and technology, and I love how it brings the Marvel universe into Disney’s classic park.
2. “‘Avatar’ Flight of Passage”
Rating – 9.8/10
There’s nothing quite like the awe of flying over the stunning landscapes of Pandora on a banshee. “‘Avatar’ Flight of Passage” offers an experience that’s not just visually breathtaking, but also deeply immersive. The combination of 3D visuals and motion makes it feel like you’re genuinely flying. It’s not just a ride; it’s an experience that transports you to another world. For me, it’s one of the most immersive and mind-blowing rides in any theme park.
3. “TRON Lightcycle Run”
Rating – 9.5/10
This ride is for anyone who craves an adrenaline rush.The futuristic concept and sleek design pull you into the TRON world. The feeling of being on a light cycle as you race through the grid is exhilarating. The ride goes from zero to 57 mph in 2.8 seconds, delivering an unforgettable experience.
4. “Test Track”
Rating – 9/10
Test Track is the perfect blend of fun and science.You design your own car and then take it through various tests, even a high-speed finale around the track. The theming makes for a fascinating experience while offering a thrilling ride.
5. “Turtle Talk with Crush”
Rating – 8.5/10
This attraction is an unexpected gem. It’s not a high-thrill ride, but instead an attraction where you get to interact with Crush from “Finding Nemo.” The technology that allows Crush to improvise with the audience, especially the kids, is impressive. It’s one of those attractions that delivers both fun and laughs.
6. “Expedition Everest”
Rating – 8/10
This ride is a perfect blend of storytelling and thrills. The ride’s theming is on another level, as it transports you to Mount Everest. From the detailed queue to the majestic mountain and the Yeti. Also, the coaster’s backward section is a great twist, and the speed and drops are thrilling. This ride is for those who love the unexpected.
7. “Slinky Dog Dash”
Rating – 7.6/10
This ride is a family favorite. It’s not too intense, but still is incredibly fun. The layout of the ride makes you feel like you’re in Andy’s backyard. The joyful theming, combined with smooth, quick drops, makes it the perfect roller coaster for all ages.
8. “‘Toy Story’ Mania!”
Rating – 7.5/10
This ride is a competitive and interactive blast. This 4D shooting gallery lets you step right into the “Toy Story” world, competing against friends and family to rack up the highest score. The ride is full of charm and humor. It’s always a must-do in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
9. “Soarin’ Around the World”
Rating – 7.3/10
If you love traveling, this ride is for you. The attraction gives the effect of soaring over the world’s most beautiful landscapes, from the Great Wall of China to the Golden Gate Bridge. The scents and the wind effects really make you feel like you’re gliding through the air.
10. “Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure”
Rating – 7/10
The combination of 3D effects, trackless technology and the creative theming transports you right into Remy’s world. The ride’s clever use of perspective makes you feel like you’re the size of a rat and has you adventuring through the kitchen at Chef Gusteau’s Restaurant. It creates an unforgettable experience, and the whimsical atmosphere is a treat for both kids and adults.
