Glass from the past. The National Art Honors Society visits the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY, in mid April and surveys this glass sculpture. The piece, “Nocturne 5”, was created by Karen LaMonte and was inspired by her observations of the night sky as well as historical astronomy and piano compositions.
The National Art Honor Society will be taking a field trip to Pittsburgh on April 16. While there, the group will visit the Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History. They will leave the school at 6:30 a.m. and will return around 5 p.m.
“I haven’t been to these museums in a long time, so I am excited to see the current exhibits,” adviser Kathryn Curry said. “I grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh and visited these museums as a child. It will be cool to go back as an adult. Also, seeing artwork in person is much more exciting than just seeing it in a picture.”
