The drama club is hosting a Mermaid Tea Party for the spring musical production of “The Little Mermaid” on Saturday April 5. The event is recommended for children ages six and up. Ariel and her mersisters will be in attendance. Junior Madison Aboud plays mersister, Alana.
“I’m most looking forward to getting to share the joy that children experience with Disney magic,” Aboud said.
Senior Jillian Pierannunzio plays Ariel and seniors Olivia Behe, Laura Reed and Karinna Wolfe as well as juniors Ava Conrad, Gabriella Beldin and Aboud play the mersisters.
Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door. This includes one adult and one child ticket for the event starting at 11 a.m.. Add-on tickets for larger parties will be available via email after initial purchase at $20 per person. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
“The purpose of the tea party is to entertain younger students and fundraise for both the drama club and the Thespian Society,” Pierannunzio said.
Wolfe plays mersister, Adella.
“To give this magical experience to kids is so exciting for me because I love kids,” Wolfe said.
There will be light refreshments as children are greeted by the mersisters and pose for pictures, followed by special performances and games.
“The special performances include songs from the show as well as songs played by the string ensemble,” Pierannunzio said. “The guests will also play bingo and other games. My hopes for the event is to fundraise for the program and have a fun event for the kids.”
“My favorite performance we will be doing is ‘She’s in Love’ because it is so energetic and fun to sing,” Aboud said. “I hope to encourage the next generation to find joy in musical theater and find pleasure in being themselves.”
The Little Mermaid will be showcased April 3-5.
“My favorite moment from rehearsals would be when we first brought in the pit orchestra and performed the finale for the first time,” Aboud said.
In the musical, there are several dance numbers.
“My favorite part of preparing for the show has been learning the dances,” Wolfe said. “I’m not a dancer but I really like dancing. Once we learn a dance, I’m always doing it at home and then when we put it with the music it flows so well.”
