There’s a lot that goes into the book “Girl In Pieces” that deals with personal issues, mental health, family problems and more. This book can have readers laughing, smiling, crying and feeling many emotions by the end of a single chapter.
“Girl In Pieces” is about a seventeen year old girl Charlotte “Charlie” Davis who is on her recovery journey from self-harm and suicidal tendencies. Charlotte is the girl with scars wearing the past on her skin. After she gets out of the mental hospital, she sets out to find her pieces not knowing how they fit back together or how to even make them stick.
This book talks about many different types of suicide, self-harm, mental health and mental issues, for example bipolar disorder. Many people struggle with mental issues and other stuff on a daily basis and it’s hard.
I myself struggle with mental health and other mental issues, so reading this bookreally helped me realize I’m not the only one who feels like this all the time, and as someone who has mental issues it changed my perspective. People weren’t always the kindest to me, and it made me really down and depressed. I developed many issues and bad ways of coping with how I was feeling. In the book, Charlotte “Charlie” wasn’t always treated the best either, so it made me relate to the book in ways I never could relate to something different. “Girl In Pieces” taught me that it is okay to fall and feel how you are feeling, but no matter what, get back up and do better and prove to them you are worth way more than they were making it out to be.
It is overall a great read. As readers are reading this, they should look out to see if this is how they are feeling or a friend. They can buy the book or recommend it to a friend, it will be worth it. It will help them realize a lot of things from a completely different point of view, it can also teach readers a lot if they are wanting to know more about certain topics with mental health and self-harm. Even if readers want tor ead it just to read it, they should because it’s great and they won’t regret it.
