Every student should play a sport because it is very beneficial for the future. Sports can help with being on time, responsibility, good grades, being able to balance multiple things and communication.
Time management is essential for success as a student and as an athlete. The players have practice and games all the time, at a certain time. If a player is late to practice, then they could receive a punishment like running or not playing as much. This drives students to be on time to practice. As a student athlete myself, I can say that this is important.
Responsibility is a big thing that sports will help. Coaches will hold players accountable with everything. Players have to make sure their bag is packed, they have their shoes, their uniform and everything they need. Also when a player is in a game they need to take accountability for their mistakes and they can’t make excuses.
Being a student athlete means the player needs to maintain good grades. If the athlete doesn’t maintain good grades, then they will be ineligible for games which means they can’t play. This drives athletes to maintain their good grades so that they can play the sport that they love.
Being able to balance multiple things is common in life. An athlete can learn how to do this because they need to be able to balance school, sports and home life. Athletes have to make sure that they are maintaining their school work, and also make sure that they are being a good athlete.
Communication is a major life skill that sports can build. When an athlete is competing in a game or match, they have to communicate. If no one is talking to one another, they won’t be able to communicate what the team needs to do. If someone needs to be picked up because they are having a bad game, one of the other teammates can pick them up and make it better.
Sports can really help build up and benefit players’ futures whether it’s time management, responsibility, good grades, balance multiple things or communication. There is a sport for everyone and these opportunities are everywhere.
