The final day of AAHS March Madness Round 1 was not without its drama and spicy intrigue. Simba triumphed over Mufasa, as young Mr. Dull moves to the Round of 32 as a 14-seed! 11-seed Mrs. Knepp edged out 6-seed Miss Brandt in an all-science throwdown that was our closest matchup of the day. Then Mrs. Bender gave voters their third upset in a row, advancing as a 10-seed over Mrs. Martin. Luckily for many brackets, Coach Saboe and his dogs advanced as a 2-seed, restoring order to the Fifth Ward Region. Dutch Hill proved safer territory for top seeds, as Mrs. Cron, Mr. Bennett, and early favorite Mrs. Detwiler advanced. But the hill wasn’t upset free, as Mr. Harpster pulled off another 10-7 upset, pushing 10-seeds to 3-1 in the
opening round. Checking in for the first time with our Tournament Bracket Challenge, Mr. Marasco, Mrs. Palfey, and Mrs. Cala are locked in a 4-way heat for first place with Senior Anna Resig, each having 29 out of 32 games picked correctly. Senior Nolan Brennan sits alone in second place with 28 points. There is still SO much Madness to come! Rest up this weekend, as Round 2 begins Tuesday.

Students and teachers, please be reminded of the AASD dress code with the onset of spring and warmer weather. Tops that expose the midriff, holes in jeans/pants as well as shorts and skirts above fingertip length are all violations of the dress code. Head coverings are not permitted once students enter the school building. Additionally, cell phones are to be turned off and in lockers during the school day, and earbuds are not
permitted to be worn in the hallways. Many of these violations will be addressed at morning arrival, but anything that makes its way past arrival must be addressed by the homeroom teacher. In this case, students must be sent to the grade-level office. Thank you for your cooperation.
