On April 10 during eighth period, it was announced that the swimming teacher, Megan Yingling, dominated the “March Madness” competition amongst all teachers and staff at the AAHS.
“March Madness” is an event throughout the AAHS where the students vote for their favorite teacher to win overall while having to face intense brackets full of other competitors, such as the health teacher, James Dangelo, who fought against Yingling in the final round.
“My initial thought was congratulations to her well deserved victory; however, there was a grave injustice done on the morning MLTV show,” Dangelo said, “Which turned into a Yingling love fest and a Dangelo bash fast which absolutely influenced voters to her side. The world better look out next year.”
Even though Yingling won, many were surprised and so was the winner herself.
“I was very surprised when they called my name,” Yingling said “In the beginning, I expected Mrs. Detwiler to win because it was her last year. What had also shocked me was how Detwiler got knocked out of the game so soon.”
Yingling wasn’t the only one who won that day, all her classes won something as well. She planned a pizza party for all of her students to participate in honor of her win.
“What I truly won is bragging rights and also a nice trophy,” Yingling said., “We will be celebrating by having a pizza party with my students.”
Each and every teacher made posters to encourage students to vote for them. Some ways used to advertise was making posters, videos, and speeches
“I absolutely love making posters,” Yingling said. “I paid and used so many apps to make them, and it was very worth it in the end.”
Not only was Yingling excited about the win, so were many students at the AAHS.
“I was so happy that Mrs Yingling won,” sophomore Jill Long said. “She is so sweet, and she deserved the win.”
