Lioneers dance and represent AAHS. The Lioneers have been recognized only as a club, not an actual sport. Other sports, such as football and basketball, get more recognition and attention than the Lioneers even when they are involved during one of their games.
Most sports that are getting recognition are male sports, not female sports. The Lioneers consist of females, and if they were to become a sport, it would give the chance for the females to shine with recognition too. A lot of effort is put in during practices to show their capabilities as the dancers of AAHS. Lioneers should have the chance to become a sport, if not, at least be recognized as one. Becoming a sport could provide many benefits to the Lioneers as a whole.
If the Lioneers were to be recognized as a sport, they would have opportunities to possibly be involved in competitions. Competitions that could happen include dancing competitions. This could be in the form of being against each other, group competitions or dancing competitions against other schools. Dancing against other schools gives the Lioneers the chance to show off their potential but to also engage with the other dancers.
Another beneficial opportunity for the Lioneers would be athletic funding. Athletic funding would be able to pay for things such as uniforms and traveling, and it would really give the Lioneers the chance to shine with many opportunities using the funding being received.
Football seasons are especially exciting for the Lioneers since they get to dance to upbeat songs and get the crowd excited. Athletic funding could help cover traveling, which could give the Lioneers more opportunities to travel to football games and have those exciting experiences more often. Although, since the Lioneers are not an official sport, they do not receive or even gain any athletic funding. With athletic funding, many opportunities would be available for the Lioneers.
The Lioneers should gain more opportunities to participate in sports as competitors of their own. Becoming a sport would bring something fresh to experience and witness for the audience, but it’d also let them have their own competitions to attend and be a part of. The Lioneers can be more included in sports if they were to have the chance to become one.
