Another addition to the staff this year is business education teacher, Evan Imgrund. Imgrund teaches introduction to business and both Microsoft classes.

Imgrund received his undergraduate degree from Juniata College and received his masters from Frostburg State University.

“I realized I wanted to be a teacher in the middle of my sophomore year. I had always had it in the back of my mind, but had never really thought of it seriously. I think it’s a good a good way to give back to the younger generation because of how influential teachers are,” Imgrund said.

Before coming to Altoona, Imgrund was a student teacher in Bedford.

“My first impression of Altoona was that there was a lot of construction. Other than that though, the administration is great,” Imgrund said.

Although this isn’t what Imgrund imagined he’s hopeful that his students will use what they learn in his class in their lives.

“It’s been tough not being face to face with my students, especially being new. Interaction is a big part of teaching and it’s been difficult not meeting my students. I try to bring some personability to the classroom and teach relevant coursework to students’ lives so that they are excited to learn,” Imgrund said.

Outside of school Imgrund enjoys fishing and coaches basketball and football.
