Freshman

On Oct. 14 and 15, freshmen voted for their class officers. The results of this election were announced on Oct. 16. The winners include Lindsey Savino as president, Shaniya Williams as vice president, Bridgette Miller as secretary and Ava Rokosky as treasurer.

Trying to make the best out of her high school time is what is important to Savino. Because of this, she plans to run for president in her following years.

teachers ideas from the students themselves. Hearing feedback from my classmates and doing what they would enjoy and want is something that will make this school year more enjoyable for everyone,” Savino said.

Savino has a different outlook on life than most people, which is why she wanted to run.

“I ran for president because I think my voice deserves to be heard. I never really spoke up in school or shared what I thought and knew, and I want to change that. I try to look at school and life in general in a different way than most. Having the mentality I have I think definitely puts a different perspective on anything that comes my way. The people in our generation put a bad reputation or outlook on schooling. I think with me being president, I can help people look at everything in a better way, in hope that everyone can treasure their high school years to the fullest,” Savino said.

She also does not want anyone to feel left out with some students staying virtual while others are going back on Nov. 16.

“I know that there is a huge loss of motivation and energy so far into this school year. I think hearing what the students want is actually a huge thing. No one knows how the students feel other than the students. A lot of stress has been created for people due to not seeing classmates, teachers, or just being in the normal environment. With that all being said, a huge goal of mine is to make sure that everyone isn’t feeling super stressed or having no motivation. I know a lot of people in our generation struggle with personal issues and don’t feel comfortable talking to anyone. Making sure everyone feels cared for and appreciated is something that needs to happen in this school,” Savino said.

Williams’s role is to come up with ideas for the freshman class alongside the president.

“Some of my goals are for us to try new things like spirit days, TikTok day, competitions between classes, student of the month for each class and more,” Williams said.

Miller will try to run every year that she can.

“I have always loved the idea of being a secretary ever since I was little. My mom sometimes

called me her little secretary. I love being organized and keeping everyone else on task. My responsibility as a secretary so far is taking notes,” Miller said.

Rokosky wants to reverse the noticeably decreasing school spirit.

“It is important to stay involved in our school. As treasurer I am responsible for keeping track of the money our grade spends, as well as delegate it properly to various activities such as school dances. I ran for treasurer because I am good with technical aspects of business such as math,” Rokosky said.

She also wants the freshman class to come together as a community.

“I would love to hold more events in outdoor spaces opposed to indoors because not only could many teenagers benefit from fresh air and sunshine, but the health department suggests that being outside lowers the chances of contracting COVID-19,” Rokosky said.
