After graduation, senior Gavin Harkins plans to attend Mount Aloysius. In this senior blog, Harkins discusses his ambitions for after high school.

Q: What college will you be attending?

A: “Mount Aloysius College.”

Q: What are you planning on studying or majoring in?

A: “Radio Imaging.”

Q: Why did you decide to go to Mount Aloysius?

A: “There’s not a whole lot of places in Pennsylvania that have what I’m looking for, and I wanted to stay close to home.”

Q: Why do you think this college is the best choice for you? What about the school interests you?

A: “I feel like a lot of jobs require at least some form of degree for entry level positions require at least some form of degree for entry level positions at this point, and I feel like it’s the smartest move.”

Q: What about the school interests you? 

A: “It’s very nice. It’s beautiful, small, you can get from one side or the other in a short walk. Also it’s small, so small classrooms mean a small student to teacher ratio.”

Q: What other colleges were you considering?

A: “I wasn’t really considering any other colleges.”

Q: Will you be participating in extracurricular activities or sports?

A: “I thought about it, but I feel like it’s best for me to just focus on school and work.”

Q: What are you most looking forward to in college?

A: “I’m most looking forward to going to school with older people, so it’s not as chaotic of an environment.”

Q: What is something that intimidates you about college?

A: “Mainly the cost of everything. That’s a large thing to be starting at down the road, but it’s worth it in the long run.”

Q: What do you think will be the biggest change from high school to college?

A: “Like I said earlier, the people mostly, and I think just how the teachers are and how the students are.”

Q: How do you feel about senior year ending?

A: “I’m excited to move on, but you know, becoming an adult is a big step and it’s a little scary, but I’ll get through that.”
