The fun part
Q: Throughout your career and your journey, have you ever wished you did something differently?
A: I could probably write a book about all the things I should have done differently or decisions I should have made (or not made). But, at the same time, I don’t know that I would change anything. All those things that I look back on now and cringe over were great learning experiences. I think the only thing I would legit change would be avoiding that one meal during a business trip in China that gave me the world’s worst food poisoning.
Q: If you could partner up with any author/artist, living or dead, who would you choose? Why?
A: This is one of those questions where the answer will be different every time I’m asked. There are so many of both that I would love to work with or learn from, both living and dead. Like I would love to somehow take lessons from Ivan Aivazosky (Russian artist 1800s) on how to paint water…that man could do oceans like no one’s business. Or have lunch with actor George Nader (famous during the 50s) because his one and only novel, Chrome, is an absolute favorite of mine…like to the point where I got so annoyed with the fact that every version of the book ever published has the absolute worst cover art imaginable that I designed, painted and printed out a brand new dust jacket for my copy of the book (it deserved better and I think he’d be happy). There’s a Japanese artist known simply as Re° whose art I absolutely adore; I would love to meet them, ask about their inspiration and style, collaborate artistically. I’d also love to have a joint writing class with Poe, Lovecraft and Mervyn Peake, just for the sheer weirdness factor.
