Changes over time

Altoona student homeless student numbers vary over time.

According to and Altoona Mirror articles entitled: Homeless students a concern in region, “During the 2021-22 school year, Altoona… number of homeless students in the district topped 200.” In November of the 2022 - 23 school year, there were more than 120 students considered homeless.

As of the 2023 school year, there have been 191 active families that are identified as homeless. However, once a family is identified as homeless, they are left on the roster for the rest of the school year, even if they are now considered ‘stable.’
