Got music?

March 19, 2021

For this week’s installment of “got music” I thought it would be fun to test out three music sources and shuffle my music and let you know what I get and give you my rating. Without further ado, let’s get on it.

First things first, apple music:

“Harvard”- LAUNDRY DAY

  • Starting off strong. I absolutely love this song. This is one of those “edgy” low key bands who I found one day out of nowhere and fell in love with. I am also in love with the song’s cover (see photo album). This song just brings such good vibes, and I can’t be in a bad mood when I listen to it.
  • Rating: 9/10

“Teenage Dirtbag”- Wheatus

  • An absolute classic. Classic I tell you. If you have never heard this song… are you living under a rock? All jokes aside, go listen to this song. Go ahead I know you want to.
  • Rating: 8.5/10

“molly (feat. Bernard Jabs)”- iann dior

  • This is such a good song. iann dior deserves so much more credit than what he receives. His music is all so incredible and I love listening to him–so good.
  • Rating: 8/10

“…And To Those I Love, Thanks for Sticking Around”- $uicideboy$

  • A mini throwback, nothing too fancy, nothing disappointing. It’s been a hot minute since I actually listened to this song, so hearing it again was a good way to reminisce on what my life was like when this song first debuted.
  • Rating: 7.5/10

“Meant to Live”- Switchfoot

  • Absolute banger, I forgot this song existed, and I’m so glad I got to listen to it again.
  • Rating: 8/10

Spotify:

“5% Tint”- Travis Scott

  • When ASTROWORLD dropped in music land, I ran–not walked–to have my listen, and whether or not I like to admit it, I actually loved the album, and I know almost every song word for word. It’s an album I listened to on repeat, and I was not disappointed to hear this song again.
  • Rating: 9.5/10

“Pure Water (with Migos)”- Mustard, Migos

  • I haven’t heard this song in a long long time. This song makes me think of summer and being outside listening to music with your friends and a kid who you haven’t talked much to get’s the aux cord and plays this song. It’s not a bad song but it’s also not the best ya know?
  • Rating: 7/10

“No Air” (Feat. Chris Brown)- Jordin Sparks, Chris Brown

  • This song was something I would jam to on my way home from school with my mom in like 2009, and the nostalgia associated with this song is immense. I’m obsessed.
  • Rating: 9.5/10

“Last Train Home”- Blink 182

  • This song is so underrated; this song brings me so much happiness. I listen to this song on repeat and never get sick of it. I am in love with this song.
  • Rating: 10/10

“Somebody Told Me”- The Killers

  • Yes! Yes! Yes! I forgot how much I loved this song. This is another song I used to listen to with my mom, and it makes my heart so very happy.
  • Rating: 10/10

Pandora

“Day ‘N’ Nite (nightmare)- Kid Cudi

  • This song screams “early 2000’s day dreams”. I felt like such a baddie when I was younger, and I would listen to this in my moms little black civic with the windows rolled down.
  • Rating: 10/10

“Badfish”- Sublime

  • I can’t even believe that this song came on and I still remembered almost all of the words. I guess it’s like edgy to wear a sublime shirt nowadays or at least that’s what I see people doing but it makes me question if they actually listen to sublime or not. I grew up listening to sublime and old throwback bands and most of the other oldies on this list with my dad and mom, and they’re definitely to thank for giving me some musical culture. My music taste is like genre vomit but it makes for a really great personality trait.
  • Rating: 10/10

“The Way I Are”- Timberland

  • I can’t believe I forgot that this song was this good. Again, so nostalgic but at the same time so underrated.
  • Rating: 8/10

“Young Forever” (feat. Mr Hudson)- JAY-Z

  • This song is something my friends and I listen to when we drive around and look at the night lights of Altoona and just enjoy each other’s presence. I have rethought my entire life to this song more times than I can count at this point.
  • Rating: 9.5/10

“Lighters”- Bad Meets Evil

  • Not as good as I remember it being, but also not bad.
  • Rating: 7/10
